Since it was so freezing today, i decided on making veg soup. At midday hubby calls me and told me of his boeber craving. Since i have 2 Wonderbags i then made both. I must confess when im in the kitchen i rarely have things under control. Boeber almost always boils over and make a huge mess around the stove when im attempting to get the sago soft and translucent. Today it only took 5 minutes at the stove. Butter, vermicilli, milk and sago all in the bathtub (pot). Add sugar to taste and stick cinnamon and cardomon..Borrel for 5 minutes. In Wonderbag for at least 1 hr to slowly steam. This was cooked at 5pm its 9-55 pm now ive just poured myself a bowl and its still perfectly warm....*cringe* the calories Ingredients 2 Litres milk 4 cardoman pods 3 stick cinnamon 100 g butter 2 cups lokshen or fine vermicilli 6 tablespoon Sago (soaked for 10 minutes in water) the more you use the thicker the boeber becomes Sugar to your taste rose water for flavouring (optional) Boil everything together for 5 minutes and place in Wonderbag for min 1 hr. Keeps piping hot for 5-6 hrs. Winter is here!! To me and many other it means warm bredies, soups and lotsa weight gain. But this healthy dish is a firm favourite among the fussiest eaters. Check it out! Braise 1 large onion in a tablespoon of oil till soft and add lamb pieces. to braise. Why is my meat so brown u wonder? in this case i browned the meat before braising the onion. I threw the meat in a preheated pot and when it turned brown i removed it and threw in oil to braise onion .You can do the same if you want Prep the green beans by removing the ends and cutting up. Also peel potatoes and cut into blocks After the meat has been in pot for about 15 min..add your veggies to pot with salt and pepper to taste..some people add peppecorns and allspice for a more spicier bredie. I also added some water just enough to losen the meat juices stuck to bottom of the pot. mix it through let it cook for a further 15 minutes (altogether 30 minutes on stove ) excluding braising time. I left my food in bag for 4-5 hrs but 3 hours is enough. It was hot and ready to serve when i opened up. This mixture remained on the stove boiling for 1 hour. I regularly check the pot to top up the water level. Note the pot is Full this lends to the heat retention as well. Before putting into wonderbag puree the whole carrots and throw back into pot and add about 8 whole allspice and salt and pepper to taste. Place in Wonderbag for at least 4-5 hours. When you remove the Pot from Wonderbag give it another 5-7 minute boil to disintegrate all the soft split pea and add some freshly chopped celery. This is what my soup looked like after 4 hours in the Wonderbag..Yummy! This is what the soup looked like when i put it into the Wonderbag. The mixture of Soup Bones, Onion Split peas, celery, sugar beans, carrots and whatever root veggies you may want to add goes on the stove and boils for half an hour on high. It stays in the bag for at least 5 hours. After which you remove from bag and you will find the carrots soft. I usually remove the carrots ad puree it and throw back into pot for another quick boil if you like. Everything else in the pot will be completely cooked Ready to serve.
