Frequently Asked Questions
Q:Will my wonderbag overcook the rice/pasta esp since the heat is retained for so long?
A:With any food cooked in water, if you put in too much water the rice or pasta will become mushy. So use the right amount and you will get perfect fluffy rice.
Q:Isnt the Polystyrene bad for my health?
A: Did you know that polystyrene is a plastic? And that only about 4% of expanded polystyrene is polystyrene – the rest is air! Polystyrene can be recycled up to 20 times without any damage to its physical properties.
More Importantly your food never comes into contact with the polystyrene. It will always be in a sealed metal pot.
Q: Why is the Wonderbag so cheap in SA and so expensive in the UK. (on the website) Is it the original Wonderbag?
A: For every bag sold in the UK another bag is donated in Africa to a needy family.
Q If my food stays in the bag for so long would it go bad in there?
A: The heat retaind inside the Wonderbag is so intense that its too hot for bacteria to harbour inside. Once you have opened up the pot and served the food, you cannot put the half eaten pot back into Wonderbag because then it will go off. It then needs to be refrigerated.
Q: What size pot will fit into the Wonderbag?
A: All your household size pots upto 12L will be able to fit into the STD Wonderbag. Even your Std Oven dish would be able to fit in since the Wonderbag opens up flat.
Q : Does the Bag stay on the stove?
A: The Wonderbag uses No Energy whatsover. The pot is removed from stove and the heat of the pot is retained by the Wonderbag.
Q: Can i use Indian style pots to cook in Wonderbag?
A: The Indian pots do not have a tight fitting lid so heat will escape from it. A possible solution is to place a heavy object on top of the lid like a brick.
Q If the polystyrene balls burn and gets stuck together is my Wonderbag useless?
A: The balls can just be losened but the Wonderbag is not useless, however it will lose its effectiveness if you continue to burn it and its not puffy anymore.
